This week was Banoffee Pie of for those who aren't familiar with this pie by its name, it's a Banana//toffe/dulce de leche type thing of deliciousness! The adults in this house LOVED this pie, in fact, P said it was his favorite so far (I know, we've only have 4, but he really loved it)...boys not so sure. The picture below of B is before he ate it...took one bite and traded it in for ice cream! But seriously, what's not to love...a graham cracker crust, dulce de leche, bananas, toffee bits and a cream cheese/sugar/whipped cream topping. The recipe is from one of my favorite cooking blogs, Our Best Bites. Here is a link to the recipe...try it and you won't be sorry! Only thing I did differently was that I used a regular graham cracker crust rather than a chocolate one. http://ourbestbites.com/2012/03/dulce-de-leche-banana-toffee-pie-happy-birthday-our-best-bites/

Week 2: Butterscotch Cream
Another winner from Sweetie-licious pies! Aunt Ruby's Beautiful Butterscotch Praline Pie and boy was it tasty...complete with whipped cream on top and praline pecans. 4 out of 6 loved it...the two big boys weren't so sure...sometimes texture issues but the rest of us LOVED the flavor...creamy, smooth and just enough butterscotchiness.

Week 1: Mom's Comfort Chocolate Chess Pie
Here we are...week 1 and a Chocolate Pie. I was going to skip this first week since husband is away, but the boys, said "No skipping!", so we dove right in. I let them help choose and they all wanted a chocolate pie. On my last birthday, my mom gave me a Pie cookbook from a woman who owns a pie shop called Sweetie-licious Pies. This week's pie was one of her recipes (this is the third of hers we have tried, and they have all been winners). This particular one is called Mom's Comfort Chocolate Chess Pie and it was supreme...rich and chocolaty and smooth. Everyone declared it yummy and awesome and the boys asked for pie for their after school snack today! Definitely good with whip cream. We ate it room temperature last night and the boys had some cold today. One of them thought it was better cold...either way, you can't go wrong! And for the record, we are butter crust people...ONLY!

What is the 52 Week Pie Challenge?
To ring in the new year, we aren't setting healthy eating or weight loss goals around here but rather challenging ourselves to a 52 week pie challenge. What is the 52 week pie challenge, you may wonder? Well, we are going to undertake the challenge of making and eating 52 different pies over the course of 2015, and yes, that equates to a different pie every week. Sunday will be our pie-eating day and we will post pictures and comments about each and every one!
Recipes will not be posted as they are probably all copyrighted but we will talk about what we liked and didn't like and how much each pie was enjoyed by all!
Stay tuned for week one...it was consumed tonight even while dad was out of town and it was declared a winner!
